Dumpster Rental Cost in Mooresville, NC: What It Covers

The honest answer is that we quote every job by phone, for your address and your material. The useful answer is what goes into that number and what moves it. Here is the arithmetic behind the quote.

Dumpster Rental Cost in Mooresville, NC: What It Covers

The typical range, and why we quote by phone

Dumpster rental pricing in Mooresville generally ranges from $350 to $750. Where a job lands depends on the dumpster size, the type of debris, the delivery location, the rental duration and the disposal weight. We offer flat-rate pricing whenever possible, covering delivery, pickup, disposal and the standard rental period — with no hidden fees, no hidden fuel surcharges and no surprise environmental fees.

We quote by phone rather than post a price list because the things that decide the number — what is going in, how heavy it is and how far the truck runs — change from job to job. A 15 yard of carpet in Cornelius and a 10 yard of broken patio in Statesville are different jobs at the scale and on the road. Call (980) 447-2697 with the address and the material for an exact quote. We accept all major credit and debit cards, and payment is typically processed when your reservation is confirmed, to secure the delivery date.

Where the number comes from: disposal

The biggest cost inside any flat rate is disposal, and Iredell County publishes its rates. At the Twin Oaks Solid Waste Facility, 354 Twin Oaks Rd in Statesville, demolition and commercial waste are $44 a ton, plus the $2-a-ton state solid waste tax. Recyclable shingles are $22 a ton and other shingles $41; brush under 8 inches is free and larger brush is $44 a ton; pallets are $44 a ton. Twin Oaks does not take dirt, and no County facility takes stumps, liquid waste, medical waste or burnt wood. The Mooresville Transfer Station is in town, but the County says "No construction debris (demolition) is accepted at this location from commercial sources" — so roll-off construction debris goes to Twin Oaks. County sites take waste from county residents only, commercial haulers must prove it was generated in the county and show county-assigned ID numbers (§12-10(b)), and a load that mixes residential and commercial waste is charged at the commercial rate (§12-8(b)).

Outside Iredell the rules change with the county line. Lincoln County's landfill takes only waste generated inside Lincoln County, at $42 a ton for construction and demolition waste. Rowan County charges $46 a ton for Rowan County waste plus the $2 state tax and $60 a ton for all others, and charges unsegregated construction and demolition loads twice the current price (§19-48(a)). Cabarrus County's construction and demolition landfill is currently not accepting that waste in roll-off trucks, so loads from Concord and Kannapolis go to another permitted facility. Those are gate rates, not our price — the material and the facility decide the disposal cost, and we build it into your flat rate.

The things that move it

Weight. Each dumpster includes a standard weight allowance based on its size and the debris type — approximately 1–2 tons on a 10 yard, 2–3 on a 15, 3–4 on a 20, 4–5 on a 30 and 5–6 on a 40. If it goes over, the container is weighed after pickup and overage fees are applied on the excess tonnage. Concrete, dirt, brick, asphalt, tile and shingles use it up fast, so we explain pricing and weight up front.

Days. Most rentals include a standard rental period of up to 7 days, and your quote confirms the days. Need longer? Call and we can often extend, based on availability; additional daily or weekly rental fees may apply. Finished early? Call and we arrange an early pickup.

Distance. Delivery location is part of every quote. From our yard on S Broad St in Mooresville, approx. road miles are: Mount Mourne 3, Davidson 6, Cornelius 8, Terrell 10, Troutman 12, Huntersville and Sherrills Ford 13, Denver and Kannapolis 16, Cleveland 17, Statesville 18, Catawba 23, Concord 24, Stony Point 29, Harmony 31 and Union Grove 35. Approximate figures, but they explain why the far runs can cost a little more.

What the do-it-yourself options cost

For a small job, the Town or a county drop-off may do. For anything bigger, the limits add up:

OptionPublished charge or limitNotes
Mooresville bulky pickupWeekly, no need to schedule: furniture, appliances, mattressesNot bricks, carpet, concrete, construction or demolition debris, dirt, electronics, rocks or tires
Mooresville brush pickupFree up to 4 ft long, 4 in across and 2 cubic yards; no stumpsContractor and tree-crew debris is not picked up (§12-65(2))
Mooresville Dial-A-DumpsterFree, residents only, 7 days at most, not from November 1 to January 1Yard or household waste only; no construction or contractor debris, carpet, shingles, paint, painted wood or pallets
Iredell County convenience sitesDemolition: $8 per half pickup load, $16 per full pickup loadResidential drop-off only, with a County windshield decal; non-residents face a $50 fine per occurrence
Twin Oaks, Statesville$44 a ton for demolition, plus $2 a ton state taxMon–Fri 7:30 a.m.–4 p.m., Sat 8 a.m.–noon; no dirt
Iredell Household Hazardous Waste DayAt Twin Oaks, 8–11:30 a.m. on set Saturdays (check the County HHW page for dates)Iredell residents only; no business waste; 15 one-gallon cans of paint at most; closed in December

Every DIY trip is a covered load — Iredell County requires loads to be covered to prevent blowing (§12-9), and state law says nothing may fall, blow, drop, sift or leak off a vehicle (G.S. 20-116(g)(1)) — plus a drive to the gate and its hours. Past a handful of trips, one roll-off usually wins on money and on weekends.

Permit costs, and the cost of getting it wrong

None of these change our flat rate, but they can add to the cost of a job. We found no Town of Mooresville permit or fee for a roll-off on a private driveway, and no Town street dumpster permit either — the Town Code bars street obstructions without approval, with a $100 civil penalty under §20-80 for a §20-71 violation, and storing property on a public street is a Class 3 misdemeanor with a fine of up to $500 (§23-107). In Kannapolis a street spot during building work needs a Public Works permit (§15-3); we did not find its fee published. On a state road we found no NCDOT permit path for a roll-off, and wilfully obstructing a highway is a Class 1 misdemeanor (G.S. 136-90).

Two more costs worth knowing. Tearing down a building in North Carolina takes a DHHS 3768 notice to the state Health Hazards Control Unit "whether or not it contains asbestos", and the work may start on the tenth working day. And North Carolina bans used oil, antifreeze, oil filters, lead-acid batteries, whole tires and large appliances from its landfills (G.S. 130A-309.10(f)) — that is why they are on our no list, and prohibited materials found at disposal can mean extra fees.

Where the money hides

The most expensive container is the heavy one that should have been two. Concrete, dirt, brick, asphalt and gravel belong in a 10 or 15 yard and may need special pricing or a separate container — loading them into a big box with everything else is how a job goes over its weight allowance. Mixed loads matter too: clean concrete, brick, block, asphalt, gravel and rock can go to a land-clearing and inert debris landfill, but shingles, drywall and treated lumber are not inert (15A NCAC 13B .0101(28), .0563(1)). Prohibited items — paints, oils and solvents, hazardous chemicals, tires, batteries, propane tanks and gas cylinders, medical waste, flammable materials and asbestos — do not belong in the box; the what-goes-in guide says what to do with each instead. Never fill above the rim: overfilled dumpsters cannot be legally transported.

Dumpster or junk removal, and getting a quote

For anything beyond a couple of pickup loads, a container you load yourself is usually the better value, because you are paying for the box rather than the labor. For a single sofa or a cleanout with nobody to lift, our junk removal service, where our crew handles the loading, hauling, cleanup and disposal, may suit you better; it is priced on the volume of debris, the labor involved, access and the material type. Call (980) 447-2697 — 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In many areas around Mooresville we offer same-day or next-day delivery depending on availability; call before noon for the best chance of same-day.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to rent a dumpster in Mooresville?

Generally $350 to $750, depending on the size, the type of debris, the delivery location, the rental length and the disposal weight. Our flat rate, whenever possible, covers delivery, pickup, disposal and the standard rental period, with no hidden fees.

What is included in a flat rate?

Delivery and pickup, disposal up to the included weight allowance, and the standard rental period of up to 7 days. Going over the weight allowance or keeping the box longer are what can add to it.

Is it cheaper to use the Town Dial-A-Dumpster instead?

For a resident with household or yard waste, it can be: it is free. But it is residents only, 7 days at most, not available from November 1 to January 1, and it takes no construction or contractor debris, carpet, shingles, paint or pallets. A remodel or a contractor job needs a roll-off.

Does it cost more outside Mooresville?

Delivery location is part of the quote, so the far runs can cost a little more: Harmony is approx. 31 road miles from our yard and Union Grove approx. 35. Disposal rules and gate rates also change by county.
