Yard Waste Dumpster Rental across Lake Norman and Iredell County

Yards here make debris in bursts. A storm comes through and limbs are down; a landscaping redo pulls out beds, shrubs, sod and mulch all at once; spring and fall cleanups fill bag after bag. Town collection is not built for it: Mooresville picks up residential brush only if it is no more than four feet long and four inches in diameter and no more than two cubic yards in total, with no stumps, and lot clearing, tree pruning or cutting by a hired contractor will not be picked up (Town Code Sec. 12-65(2)). The Town's Dial-A-Dumpster helps residents for seven days at most and not from November 1 to January 1. A container on the driveway takes all of it, the week it happens.

Two things shape the job. Clean green waste is worth keeping clean: household trash, plastic planters, treated lumber or chemicals mixed in turn a simple load into one nobody wants. North Carolina bans yard trash from landfills except those approved for it (G.S. 130A-309.10(f)(3)), and a land clearing and inert debris landfill takes stumps, trees, limbs, brush, grass and other naturally occurring vegetative material (15A NCAC 13B .0101(31), .0563(1)). And yard waste is bulky and light until it is not: soil, sod, wet leaves and stumps are heavy. We size for the mix.

At a glance

What you get with yard waste dumpster rental

  • Tree branches and limbs, leaves, grass clippings, shrubs, hedge trimmings, soil, sod, mulch, weeds, roots and small stumps
  • A 15 or 20 yard for most homes; a 10 for small cleanups and tree trimming
  • Same-day or next-day after a storm in many areas, depending on availability
  • No bags, no trailer trips, no landfill runs
  • Green waste directed to composting, mulch and recycling facilities whenever possible
  • Landscapers and property managers: recurring service and scheduled pickups

Storm cleanup, tree work and landscape redos

Storm cleanup is the big one. North Carolina storms can leave fallen branches, damaged shrubs and scattered debris across a yard in an afternoon, and a 20 yard on the driveway takes the whole pile in one go.

Landscape and tree jobs are the planned version — beds, shrubs and hedges out, a tree trimmed or removed, mulch and sod replaced, a rental property tidied, a home readied for sale. Hired a tree crew? The Town says tree service contractors are responsible for removing and disposing of everything their work generates. Landscapers and property managers can set up recurring service for ongoing green waste, and for mixed jobs we can recommend the best container setup for the green waste and everything else.

Soil, stumps and the weight line

Branches, brush and hedge trimmings are light. Soil, sod, wet leaves, stumps and roots are not. A 20 of brush is nowhere near its weight allowance; a 20 heaped with dirt is well over it. Tell us the mix and we will size it — usually a 15 or 20 for the green waste and, if there is a lot of soil, a 10 alongside. Where it goes matters too: Iredell County's facilities do not accept dirt or stumps, so soil and stumps travel in their own loads to a site that takes them, and North Carolina's construction and demolition landfills do not accept yard trash (15A NCAC 13B .0542(e)(14)). One kind of material per load keeps the options open.

Yard waste — the local specifics

Every town runs its own yard program, and none of them is built for a whole yard at once. Mooresville: brush up to four feet long, four inches across and two cubic yards in total, no stumps, and nothing from a hired contractor (Sec. 12-65(2)); the Town's yard waste page adds that tree service contractors are responsible for the removal and proper disposal of all material their work generates. The free Dial-A-Dumpster takes yard or household waste for residents only, for a maximum of seven days, and is not available from November 1 to January 1. Troutman says waste from lot clearing, landscaping and building is collected by the contractor or builder, or else the owner (Sec. 53.05(G)). North Carolina does not ban yard waste from every landfill: yard trash may go to landfills approved for it, and source-separated yard trash may be accepted where a site keeps separate composting facilities (G.S. 130A-309.10(f)(3)). A container is for the pile that is bigger, heavier or sooner than the curb can handle. The what can and cannot go in guide explains what has to stay out of a green load and where it goes instead.

Answers

Yard Waste Dumpster Rental — your questions answered

Do I need to bag or bundle the brush?

No. Load it as it comes — no bags, no bundles. The only things that matter are staying level with the top rim and keeping household trash and chemicals out of it.

Can I put dirt in a yard waste dumpster?

Yes — soil, sod and mulch are accepted. Soil is heavy, so it goes in a smaller box or its own load within the weight limit, and Iredell County's facilities do not accept dirt, so it has to go to a site that does. Tell us it is part of the job when you book and we will plan the loads.

Can I put a whole tree in?

Cut to fit, yes — limbs, logs, branches and small stumps are fine. Keep everything level with the top rim. Big stumps and root balls are heavy, so tell us about them.

How fast after a storm can you deliver?

Same-day or next-day in many areas, depending on availability — call before noon. If the week after a storm is busy, we tell you honestly when to expect the container.

Do you recycle green waste?

Whenever possible. Green waste can be directed to local composting, mulch and recycling facilities rather than buried. Treated lumber, plastic or household trash in the box spoils that.
