Construction Dumpster Rental across Lake Norman and Iredell County
A job site does not make one kind of waste. Demolition comes out heavy — concrete, tile, brick, shingles — then framing and drywall come out light and bulky, then the finish phase is packaging and offcuts. We size each phase on its own: a 10 or 15 for the heavy stuff, a 30 or 40 for the bulk, and a swap schedule so the crew never waits on a full box. Most contractors in Mooresville find a 20 works for renovation projects, while a 30 or 40 suits larger construction and demolition jobs — from a residential build near downtown Mooresville to a commercial site near Highway 150.
In North Carolina the sorting matters. Construction and demolition debris is solid waste resulting solely from construction, remodeling, repair or demolition operations on pavement, buildings or other structures (G.S. 130A-290(4)). Inert debris — asphalt, cured concrete, brick, concrete block, gravel and rock, with no chemical adhesives, sealants or lead-based paint (15A NCAC 13B .0101(28)) — can go to a land clearing and inert debris landfill, while shingles, drywall and treated lumber are not inert. A clean, separated load and a box sized for the weight both keep the job on budget. The Mooresville permit guide covers the street questions.

Demolition, framing, roofing and finish
Demolition debris is where the weight is. Concrete, brick, asphalt and tile go in the smaller containers because of hauling weight limits. Framing and drywall go in 20s and 30s. Shingle roofs go in a 10 or a 20 depending on the size of the roof — shingles, tar paper, underlayment, flashing and tear-off debris.
Asbestos is a state matter. North Carolina's Health Hazards Control Unit (NC DHHS) requires a DHHS 3768 notice for the demolition of a building whether or not it contains asbestos, and for removing at least 160 square feet, 260 linear feet or 35 cubic feet of regulated asbestos-containing material; removal or demolition may start on the tenth working day, and faxed filings are not accepted. In Huntersville, Cornelius and Davidson, Mecklenburg County runs its own local asbestos program. Asbestos-containing material never goes in a roll-off, and we will ask what the building is before we quote a demo job.
Job-site placement and the Town of Mooresville
On a private lot we place where the driver can reach it and the crew can load it. The Town Code bars obstructions in Mooresville streets and sidewalks without Town approval — apart from building material placed with permission for immediate use (Sec. 20-71(a)) — and allows no encroachment on Town property or easements except as the town manager or a designee approves (Sec. 20-9); we found no Town dumpster permit. On NCDOT-maintained roads, G.S. 136-93 requires a written permit for any obstruction, and we found no permit path for a temporary roll-off. Debris from a contractor's work is the contractor's to remove: building materials will not be collected by town forces (Sec. 12-65(1)), and the Town's Dial-A-Dumpster rules say contractors must haul away debris with their own equipment. Roll-off construction debris from Iredell County goes to the county's Twin Oaks facility in Statesville at a published $44 a ton plus a $2 a ton state tax; the Mooresville Transfer Station takes no construction debris from commercial sources.

Construction dumpster rental — the local specifics
Most towns around Mooresville put construction debris on the owner or the contractor in writing. Statesville says building materials will not be collected by city forces or placed at the curb (Sec. 19-28(1)); Davidson that construction debris shall not be collected or disposed of by the town and is the responsibility of the property owner and their contractor, builder or agent (Sec. 62-34); Cornelius that building materials shall be removed by the contractor or builder, or failing that the owner (Sec. 51.21), and that debris left on a street from a construction project is the contractor's to clear (Sec. 94.02); Troutman that building waste is collected by the contractor or builder, or else the owner (Sec. 53.05(G)); and Kannapolis that construction and demolition wastes shall be removed by the contractor or builder, or failing that the occupant (Sec. 7-26). Concord requires construction debris over four cubic yards to be placed in a roll-off container (Sec. 46-33), and Huntersville's town page says construction debris is not household waste and cannot be collected. C&D landfills also turn away loose bulbs, batteries, thermostats and CCA- or creosote-treated wood (15A NCAC 13B .0542(e)(15)), so tell us if treated lumber is coming. Every town page quotes the section.

Answers
Construction Dumpster Rental — your questions answered
Do you do swap-outs?
Yes. Once the container is full we schedule prompt pickup or bring a replacement, and multi-week jobs usually set up scheduled swaps at the start. Contractors with several active sites can line up recurring pickups across them.
Can I mix concrete with other debris?
You can, but it costs you. Concrete fills the weight allowance long before the box looks full, so heavy debris may need special pricing or a separate container. We usually run a 10 or 15 for rubble alongside a bigger box for the rest — and a clean load of concrete, brick, block and rock is inert debris with more places to go than a mixed one.
Can you deliver to a site with no address yet?
Yes — give us the nearest cross streets and a site contact, and we coordinate timing and placement directly with your site manager or contractor before the truck goes out.
Do I need a permit for a container on a Mooresville job site?
Not for the container on the lot, as far as the Town's published code says. We found no Town dumpster permit for the street — the code bars obstructions in streets and sidewalks without Town approval (Secs. 20-71, 20-9) — and on NCDOT roads a written permit is required for any obstruction (G.S. 136-93). For demolition, North Carolina wants a DHHS 3768 notice ten working days ahead, with or without asbestos. We flag it when you book.
Which areas restrict construction haulers?
Unincorporated Catawba County, which covers Sherrills Ford and Terrell, has an exclusive county franchise that covers construction and demolition roll-offs, though contractors may haul their own waste with their own equipment. Lincoln County, which covers Denver, requires an annual collector permit and a franchise. Inside the towns we cover we found no exclusive roll-off franchise. Each town page says what that code says, and we tell you straight when you call.
