Statesville is approx. 18 road miles north of the yard, around 25 minutes — same-day or next-day, depending on availability; call before noon for the best chance of same-day. It is a city of 28,419 at the 2020 Census and the Iredell County seat, founded in January 1789 by an act of the General Assembly.
City code says building materials will not be collected by city forces and may not be placed at the curb (§19-28(1)), and collection of bulk containers is by contract with a private hauler at the business's expense (§19-23). The City runs weekly residential curbside garbage and single-stream recycling. Remodels, roofs and clear-outs go out in roll-offs.
Local knowledge
Getting our bearings in Statesville
Knowing a city properly is the difference between covering it and showing up with the right box.
- The City franchise is for landfills — the City's solid waste franchise article covers building and running a solid waste landfill (§19-54), not hauling.
- City Sanitation — weekly residential curbside garbage and single-stream recycling; Sanitation is on (704) 878-3415.
- Twin Oaks landfill — Iredell County's main landfill, 354 Twin Oaks Rd, Statesville, takes demolition and commercial loads Monday to Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to noon, at a published $44 a ton for demolition plus $2 a ton state tax. No dirt or stumps.
- In-county waste only — Iredell County sites accept waste generated in the county, and commercial haulers display county-assigned ID numbers (County Code §12-10(b)).

What comes out of Statesville properties
Roofs in 10s and 20s, kitchens and baths in 20s, estate clear-outs and multi-room remodels in 30s, commercial construction and demolition in 40s, and a 10 or 15 for concrete, brick and asphalt — heavy material goes in the smaller boxes because of weight limits. Building materials are exactly what City forces will not collect (§19-28(1)). North Carolina bans used oil, lead-acid batteries, whole tires, white goods and consumer computers and TVs from landfills (G.S. 130A-309.10(f)), and the County's household hazardous waste day at Twin Oaks takes no business waste.

Sizes
Choosing a container size in Statesville
Weight is what usually decides the size, not how much room the pile takes up.
| Size | Dimensions | Capacity | Weight included | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10 Yard Dumpster | about 14 ft long × 7.5 ft wide × 3.5 ft high | about 3 pickup truck loads | 1–2 tons | Small bathroom and kitchen remodels, garage cleanouts, roofing tear-offs, concrete, tile and asphalt removal, and other heavy debris within the weight limit. |
| 15 Yard Dumpster | about 16 ft long × 7.5 ft wide × 4.5 ft high | about 4–5 pickup truck loads | 2–3 tons | Multi-room and garage cleanouts, kitchen and bathroom remodels, flooring and carpet removal, light-to-medium roof tear-offs, landscaping and yard cleanup, and fence or deck removal. |
| 20 Yard Dumpster | about 22 ft long × 7.5 ft wide × 4.5 ft high | about 6 pickup truck loads | 3–4 tons | Whole-home cleanouts, multi-room renovations, roofing projects, landscaping debris, moving cleanups and light demolition with mixed construction debris. |
| 30 Yard Dumpster | about 22 ft long × 7.5 ft wide × 6 ft high | about 9 pickup truck loads | 4–5 tons | Multi-room renovations, estate and move-out cleanouts, office and retail remodels, light demolition, construction debris and community or HOA cleanups. |
| 40 Yard Dumpster | about 22 ft long × 7.5 ft wide × 8 ft high | about 12 pickup truck loads | 5–6 tons | Commercial construction, large demolition, major renovations, warehouse and industrial cleanouts, large roofing projects and community cleanup events. |
Permits, placement and who may haul in Statesville
Who may haul — the rule that matters: §19-23 says collection of bulk containers shall be by contract with a private hauler at the commercial establishment's expense, and §19-28(1) keeps building materials out of City collection. The City's solid waste franchise (§19-54) covers landfills only, and we found no City hauler franchise or permit. We're licensed and insured.
Placement: we found no City rule written for a dumpster, and §21-2(b) has the chief of police remove all unauthorized obstructions on any street. So the container goes on your driveway or job site, and our crew confirms the spot with you. On a state road, G.S. 136-93 needs a written NCDOT permit for any obstruction.
Covered loads: Iredell County requires loads to be covered to prevent blowing (§12-9), and state law requires every load to be secured so nothing falls, blows, sifts or leaks (G.S. 20-116(g)(1)).
Knocking something down: the state Health Hazards Control Unit (NC DHHS) needs a DHHS 3768 notice for the demolition of a building, whether or not it contains asbestos; work may start on the tenth working day. Twin Oaks asks for 24 hours' notice for asbestos. Asbestos never goes in our containers — tell us if the survey finds any.
Summarized from the city's published code and web pages as read in October 2026. Codes change — confirm with the department listed before you rely on it.
How it works
Booking a dumpster in Statesville
Booking a container here takes one phone call and about five minutes.
- 1
Call and tell us the job
One short conversation. We ask the location, what you are clearing — a cleanout, a renovation, a roof, a yard, a job site — roughly how much there is, and how much room the driveway or lot gives us.
- 2
We size it and quote it flat
You get one number that can cover delivery, pickup, disposal, the standard rental period and an included weight allowance. If a smaller box does the job we will say so. If it is concrete, shingles or dirt, we say up front that weight decides the size.
- 3
Delivered where you want it
The driver sets the container on the driveway, lot or job site where you asked, with protective boards under it if you want them. Often same-day or next-day, depending on availability. You do not need to be home.
- 4
Load at your own pace
Keep it level with the top rim and keep the banned items out — paint and solvents, chemicals, oil and fuel, batteries, tires, propane tanks and gas cylinders, medical waste, asbestos, large appliances, and computers or TVs. Need more time or a swap mid-job? One call.
- 5
We haul it and dispose of it right
The load is covered and goes to a facility permitted for that kind of waste, with metal, concrete, asphalt, cardboard and yard waste recycled through local facilities whenever possible. You get your driveway back the way you left it.
