Roll-off dumpster rental in Cornelius
Approx. 8 road miles from the yard, around 14 minutes.
Cornelius is approx. 8 road miles south of the yard, around 14 minutes — same-day or next-day, depending on availability; call before noon for the best chance of same-day. It is a town of 31,412 at the 2020 Census, in Mecklenburg County.
Town code says building materials are collected, removed and disposed of by the contractor or builder, or by the property owner if they fail to (§51.21). The Town also says it does not provide bulk item pick-up, and residents can contract with a private hauler to collect items from their property. Kitchens, roofs and clear-outs all go out in roll-offs.
Local knowledge
Getting our bearings in Cornelius
Knowing a city properly is the difference between covering it and showing up with the right box.
- Contracted residential service — the Town may contract out its solid waste collection (§51.22), and residential collection runs that way.
- No Town bulk pickup — bulky items are for residents to take themselves or have a private hauler collect from their property.
- Street debris — debris left on a street from a construction project must be removed by the contractor in charge of the project (§94.02).
- Mecklenburg County C&D — the County says construction and demolition loads of 10 cubic yards or more go directly to its Foxhole Landfill, open for C&D Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

What comes out of Cornelius properties
Garage clean-outs in 15s, roofs in 10s and 20s, kitchens and baths in 20s, estate clear-outs and multi-room remodels in 30s, and a 10 or 15 for concrete, brick and dirt — heavy material goes in the smaller boxes because of weight limits. Building materials are the contractor's or owner's to remove (§51.21). Keep used oil, antifreeze, lead-acid batteries, whole tires, white goods and consumer computers and TVs out of the box — North Carolina bans them from landfills (G.S. 130A-309.10(f)).

Sizes
Choosing a container size in Cornelius
Weight is what usually decides the size, not how much room the pile takes up.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10 Yard Dumpster | about 14 ft long × 7.5 ft wide × 3.5 ft high | about 3 pickup truck loads | 1–2 tons | Small bathroom and kitchen remodels, garage cleanouts, roofing tear-offs, concrete, tile and asphalt removal, and other heavy debris within the weight limit. |
| 15 Yard Dumpster | about 16 ft long × 7.5 ft wide × 4.5 ft high | about 4–5 pickup truck loads | 2–3 tons | Multi-room and garage cleanouts, kitchen and bathroom remodels, flooring and carpet removal, light-to-medium roof tear-offs, landscaping and yard cleanup, and fence or deck removal. |
| 20 Yard Dumpster | about 22 ft long × 7.5 ft wide × 4.5 ft high | about 6 pickup truck loads | 3–4 tons | Whole-home cleanouts, multi-room renovations, roofing projects, landscaping debris, moving cleanups and light demolition with mixed construction debris. |
| 30 Yard Dumpster | about 22 ft long × 7.5 ft wide × 6 ft high | about 9 pickup truck loads | 4–5 tons | Multi-room renovations, estate and move-out cleanouts, office and retail remodels, light demolition, construction debris and community or HOA cleanups. |
| 40 Yard Dumpster | about 22 ft long × 7.5 ft wide × 8 ft high | about 12 pickup truck loads | 5–6 tons | Commercial construction, large demolition, major renovations, warehouse and industrial cleanouts, large roofing projects and community cleanup events. |
Permits, placement and who may haul in Cornelius
Who may haul — the rule that matters: §51.21 has building materials removed by the contractor or builder, or the owner if they fail to, and §51.22 lets the Town contract its solid waste collection, which it does for residential service. We found no Town franchise covering roll-offs, and the Town says residents can hire a private hauler for bulk items. Mecklenburg County says its Certificate to Operate is not necessary for construction and demolition debris or bulky waste. We're licensed and insured.
Placement: we found no Cornelius dumpster permit in the code. A driveway or job site is the simple spot, and our crew confirms it with you; ask the Town before using a street. Any construction debris that ends up on a street is the project contractor's to remove (§94.02). On a state road, G.S. 136-93 needs a written NCDOT permit for any obstruction.
Knocking something down: North Carolina requires notice before a building is demolished, whether or not it contains asbestos, and work may start on the tenth working day. Mecklenburg County runs its own local asbestos program, and the state Health Hazards Control Unit says it is the office to contact for jobs in the county. Asbestos never goes in our containers — tell us if the survey finds any.

How it works
Booking a dumpster in Cornelius
Booking a container here takes one phone call and about five minutes.
- 1
Call and tell us the job
One short conversation. We ask the location, what you are clearing — a cleanout, a renovation, a roof, a yard, a job site — roughly how much there is, and how much room the driveway or lot gives us.
- 2
We size it and quote it flat
You get one number that can cover delivery, pickup, disposal, the standard rental period and an included weight allowance. If a smaller box does the job we will say so. If it is concrete, shingles or dirt, we say up front that weight decides the size.
- 3
Delivered where you want it
The driver sets the container on the driveway, lot or job site where you asked, with protective boards under it if you want them. Often same-day or next-day, depending on availability. You do not need to be home.
- 4
Load at your own pace
Keep it level with the top rim and keep the banned items out — paint and solvents, chemicals, oil and fuel, batteries, tires, propane tanks and gas cylinders, medical waste, asbestos, large appliances, and computers or TVs. Need more time or a swap mid-job? One call.
- 5
We haul it and dispose of it right
The load is covered and goes to a facility permitted for that kind of waste, with metal, concrete, asphalt, cardboard and yard waste recycled through local facilities whenever possible. You get your driveway back the way you left it.
